The Doors bring such good memories and make me smile. All because of this guy, my Tio Omar, and my Tia Mariana. We lived under the same roof for a few years in my early childhood and I would often wake up to the musical stylings of Jim Morrison and his band blaring through the house. I knew my teenage aunt and uncle were up. My sister and I loved spending time with them and quickly got into whatever they were into. I loved to see how much they loved music. My uncle even encouraged me to write a song and he sat down with me to help me through it. He told me to look out the window and say whatever came to mind. I still remember most of it...
I remember the melody too. :) I think I was about 6 years old. I'm pretty sure we even recorded us pretending to sing it on a radio station. I wish I had that tape. :)
I am grateful to my aunt and uncle for not only their sweet love, but for the love of music they passed on to me. Listening to any The Doors song takes me back to a very special time.
Los quiero muchisimo Omar y Mariana y tengo tan lindos recuerdos de ustedes. Gracias. :)
And, yes, that's me bald with my younger sister and Tio Omar. Sorry Paulita. :)
